*DISCLAIMER: This event is meant for new MASTER'S* students in computer science, cybersecurity, data science, and computational biology. If you are just starting your bachelor's, this is not the event for you and you should check out the correct one!
Transport 🚆
In order to guarantee a cozy atmosphere and so that we all definitely get to know each other, we will move into a house in the vicinity of Flumserberg. To do so, we will rely on the renowned and legendary Swiss trains! 🇨🇭
If you have a Halbtax (half fare) or GA Travelcard (general admission), please select the option when registering. But be warned: if you select one of these without actually having it, your ticket won’t be valid!
- Departure: Friday, September 18, 2026, Zürich HB (Main Station 🚉) at the group meeting point right below the big clock at 2:40 p.m. The latter is located just below the main dome, on the ground floor! (https://www.sbb.ch/en/travel-information/stations/find-station/zuerich-hb-station/shops/shop-detail.html/geo-treffpunkt-884b) Please be on time as we cannot miss the train we booked.
- Return: Sunday, September 20, 2026. Arrival at Zürich HB around 3 p.m.
- At the meeting point, make sure that you stand next to the people with the VIS flag (yellow spiral with the lettering "VIS") because other student associations might travel at the same time. And you definitely don't want to spend a weekend with them, trust me ;) 😜
What to bring with you 🧳
Meals, snacks and drinks are included in the trip (and they will be good! 😋). So you basically only have to take with you what you otherwise consider to be vital for a 48-hour weekend trip ... Note from the Organizing Committee: your laptop is definitely not vital. In other words, forget about it! 🙈
Otherwise, you need:
- clothes 👕
- toilet bag 🪥
- slippers, as shoes are forbidden in the whole house 🩴
- make sure to bring warm clothes with you, as the house is located at an altitude of 1300m above sea level. 🏔️
- earplugs if you are a light sleeper 🛌
- your best board/card games 🎲 (this point is of utmost importance)
You DON'T need to bring a sleeping bag - bedsheets, blankets and pillows will be provided!
Depending on the weather, we will go on a hike on Saturday. 🥾 Please bring good shoes, preferably hiking shoes, for the hike. If you are not too much of a hiker, don't worry: there will be other options!

If you've made it this far, you're on the right track. Now you just have to sign up! The cost of the weekend (including travel and meals) is 60 CHF. You will have 24 hours from the time of your registration to pay and secure your spot, otherwise the registration will expire. It is highly recommended to complete the registration and the payment as soon as possible, as the available spots are limited. If you have troubles registering, please contact moeb@vis.ethz.ch.
You can either pay online or by cash, in the oVIS (CAB E 31).
Please note that the event is dedicated to students STARTING THEIR MASTER this year 🙋♀️ So if you are NOT a newcomer but wish to attend the weekend, please contact moeb@vis.ethz.ch and DO NOT REGISTER here. Once we receive your email, we will put you on a waiting list, and we will reach out if there were available spots for you. 😇
