What?
You have probably heard of Docker and Kubernetes. They are essential technologies to operate most of modern software nowadays, and probably will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. However, their core principles and usage tends to be left out in academic curricula.
In this workshop you will learn:
- How large companies use these technologies, and why there is so much hype about them.
- How to use Docker. You will need to get your hands dirty and solve some proper challenges.
- How easy software operation can be with Kubernetes. Also here you will have problems to solve!
Generally speaking, this workshop will allow you to get some hands-on experience with very important and interesting technologies.
When and Where?
Join us for this workshop on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 5 p.m. at the ipt Office, Löwenstrasse 28, 8001 Zürich. The official part lasts until 18:30. You are invited for Apéro and networking afterwards!
Who?
The following hosts are looking forward to meeting you:
Claude has gained his first experience with virtualization and Kubernetes in Academia, working on a micro-service oriented Internet architecture deployed at large scale. Currently, he’s working as an ipt Consultant for the Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (FOITT), where he puts his passion for Cloud Technologies to use.
After focusing on machine learning at the end of his studies, Philipp wanted to learn more about the Swiss industry and what challenges they were facing. He joined ipt as a Consultant and currently works in two teams, both part of the Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (FOITT). In one team he can continue his passion with machine learning and NLP by building a chatbot in the public cloud. In the other team, he made his first steps in the private cloud and learned all about containerization technologies, the Ops part of DevOps and building service brokers.
Already during his studies at ETH, Jakob has been working with virtualization and cloud technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. After completing his Master, he joined ipt as a Consultant, where he can apply his experience in a mandate for the Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (FOITT).
