VIS x IPT: LLM Engineering Workshop

You’ve successfully called an LLM API. You’ve even shipped a feature that worked perfectly on threeexamples — only to see it break on the fourth. This workshop is the missing bridge between a "cool demo" and a "reliable product."
In one evening, you will:
- Build a production-grade classifier using structured outputs and schema validation — no more hacking through string-parsed JSON or hoping for the best.
- Implement a rigorous evaluation suite and watch your performance metrics move in real-time as you refine your prompt logic.
- Engineer an LLM-as-a-Judge and discover why designing automated graders is a high-level skill of its own.
- Architect an agent loop from scratch — stripping away heavy, complex frameworks to write the lean, transparent code that finally makes autonomous tool-use click.
What you’ll leave with: A forkable, production-ready repository, a quantified improvement in your model’s accuracy, and the one engineering discipline that separates an AI prototype from a shipping product.
