GetYourGuide is one of the most successful ETH spin-offs and one of the rare unicorns in Switzerland. Since its founding at ETH Zurich in 2009, travellers from over 170 countries have booked more than 43 million tours, activities, and attraction tickets through GetYourGuide. Powered by a global team of travel experts and technologists, the company has offices in 18 countries around the world.
Tobias Rein, one of the co-founders and ETH alumni will talk about various aspects about the technology that is behind GetYourGuide. How the infrastructure was scaled up from one server in the office to a Kubernetes cluster on AWS, how GetYourGuide deals with security and where machine learning is applied to the product. Additionally, Tobias will talk about coding skills you need to have to work in a fast changing, agile environment.
