Dilemma of the Month

Have you ever thought about your future impact on society as an engineer, scientist or in any other role? How about the responsibilities you might carry in the future? The "Dilemma of the Month" is a series of monthly, informal gatherings, which are designed to be an open space for you to explore, share and discuss your opinions and thoughts on a given topic with others. Everyone including non-CS and non-students are welcome to join :)
This month's edition will be on "Why do you do, what you do? Looking beyond your screen." Your values—something rarely asked for, but everyone has them—define your behavior, your judgement of right and wrong, your motivation for your studies or work, and much more. But what are your values? Where do they come from? Do they change sometimes? We think it is important to ask such questions sometimes. We invite you to our open and safe space to discuss with each other, reflect on our own choices, and hear others reflecting on theirs.
Here's a sneak peek into possible questions you can tinker with:
- What are your values in life?
- How do your values relate to your studies or work in CS?
- What gets you out of your bed in the morning (besides coffee)?
- The Hippocratic Oath serves as a pledge for physicians to follow good medical practices such as "do no harm", professional conduct and ethical standards. What do you think about having such an oath for engineers?
Remember, there is no correct answer to questions we ask.
